PSM-PAS-PGC MEDIA PROGRAM & DIALOGUE WITH RAKYAT
UNCONTROLLED DEVELOPMENT, ENVIRONMENTAL DESTRUCTION
& THE PROBLEMS OF THE RAKYAT IN CAMERON HIGHLANDS
CAMERON HIGHLANDS WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE 2012
Objectives
(a) To highlight the widespread uncontrolled development resulting in massive environmental destruction – the cutting of hills, the blatant destruction of the natural environmental heritage, eradication of natural indigenous flora & fauna, the natural beauty of the landscape, the pollution of waterways and sources of water for agriculture & human consumption, the uncontrolled use of pesticides, the lack of proper planning, maladministration, the chaotic road & traffic system, poor sanitation and rubbish collection, poor public amenities, poor public transport system, the bad administration of the district, the lack of importance given to the natural heritage of CH etc. The apparent widespread corruption and its role in the deterioration of the environment.
(b) To obtain feedback from the people of Cameron Highlands through a ‘meet-the-people & dialogue session’ of the problems faced by them.
(c) To visit some of the Hak Asasi Kemanusian problems which the people of Cameron Highlands have been fighting for the past 4 years.
(d) Submission of the Signature petition to Cameron Highlands District Office to resolve the traffic jam problem with the inclusion of the rakyat of Cameron Highlands in all levels of discussion.
